The 3M™ Littmann® Cardiology IV™ Stethoscope is a new generation of leading stethoscopes, offering enhanced acoustic performance with improved hearing of high-frequency sounds (adult surface, tight pressure). Its distinctive goblet-shaped listening bell features adjustable diaphragms on either side, providing exceptional acoustic performance, versatility, and ease of use in treating both adult and pediatric patients. The pediatric side of the listening bell can be converted to a traditional open bell by removing the adjustable diaphragm and replacing it with a non-chilling bell surround.
Both the adult and child sides of the listening bell feature a one-piece diaphragm that is easy to install and clean due to its smooth, protruding surfaces.
Adjustable diaphragm technology – a 3M innovation – allows you to hear sounds of different frequencies simply by adjusting the pressure in the stethoscope. Use light pressure to listen to low-frequency sounds; press a little harder to hear higher-frequency sounds. This time-saving feature allows the practitioner to focus on the patient, while the non-chilling edges provide comfort to the patient.
Earpiece tension is easily adjusted to fit head size and comfort by compressing or pulling the earpieces together. Patented 3M™ Littmann® Stethoscope Sealing Earpieces are securely attached, soft, sealing earpieces that provide a comfortable fit and excellent acoustic isolation. The earpieces fit snugly onto the ends of the earpiece spring and require careful effort to remove securely.
Dual-lumen tubing eliminates the friction noises produced by traditional dual tubing by combining two sound channels in one tube. This feature allows the clinician to hear patient sounds with less interference.
The durable, new generation tubing retains its shape and flexibility even when tightly folded and tucked into a pocket. Its improved resistance to skin oils and alcohols ensures a longer stethoscope lifespan and reduces the likelihood of staining. To benefit discerning clinicians and patients, and to play a role in protecting human health and the environment, these new generation tubings are not made from natural rubber latex or phthalate plasticizers.
